Woman for Sale

 An experimental performance installation

Woman for Sale is an experimental performance installation that started as a costume design exam assignment. The assignment was to design a costume that was integral to a performance. I had so many things to say but loudest of all was how the dehumanization/ objectification of women is a normal and casual in our societies and I'm willing to argue is entangled in the root of the prevalence of the myriad of violence we face from , rape and human trafficking,  various forms of  mental and physical abuse to hateful comments and behaviors towards our varied appearances. I chose then to simply physicalize the "meat market" of women who were as inanimate objects, priced according to the cultural beauty standards , complexion, age, weight, hair texture and shape and simply wondered;  What would happen when people were confronted with  them, objects, women, for sale?

"The true focus of revolutionary change is never merely the oppressive situations That we seek to escape, but that part of the oppressor That is planted deep within each of us
